Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is known for her acclaimed roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano won her an Oscar. At a young age she began playing on stage for various Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. Since her childhood she's been passionate in the field of acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. Her mumps left her deaf and blind in one ear. But she did not allow this hinder her progress as an actor. She studied drama at college, and then moved from Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her goals. Hunter was trapped in the elevator of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her.
